The UNESCO Creative Cities Network was launched in 2004 to promote cooperation among cities which recognize creativity as a major factor in their urban development.
Since last summer, a small working group of local literary citizens has assembled to prepare a bid for Edmonton to join the Creative Cities Network as a City of Literature in 2019.
As the group anticipates the coming call for submissions from UNESCO, we want to hear from other writers, poets, book clubs, writing circles, festival organizers, librarians, and anyone else interested in Edmonton’s possible future as a City of Literature. What does Edmonton as a City of Literature look like to you? What makes Edmonton’s literary culture unique? What initiatives would you like to see that showcase both our literary history and future?
We would love to hear from you at our first information session on Tuesday, February 12th at 6:30 p.m. at the Strathcona Library. Meet members of the working group, share your ideas, and learn more about how you can get involved. All are welcome. For more information click here.
