Submit to Appear at LitFest
Thank you so much for your interest in LitFest.
To be considered for an upcoming event, please submit the following materials by May 31 of the intended festival year:
- An author biography and details of the title to be considered.
- A galley, ARC, or finished copy of the author’s upcoming or new work.
- Information about the availability of the author in October.
Generally, submissions we receive are from publishers, but we will review and consider applications sent directly from authors and other nonfiction content creators. LitFest strives to offer a diverse and talented line-up of nonfiction events each year. If you believe that you would be a good fit, please submit your application, along with any relevant links or information. Unique presentation ideas are always welcome.
LitFest provides visiting presenters with ground transfers and accommodation, as well as speaking honorariums for presenters in accordance with the suggested rates outlined by The Writers Union of Canada. LitFest is appreciative of publisher support for author travel to Edmonton.
As LitFest invests significant resources in promotion, production, and delivery of our programming, we appreciate exclusivity for the author’s appearances in Edmonton and the surrounding metropolitan area for periods of 30 days before and after the festival. Appearances unrelated to the festival may be planned with consultation. If events have been previously confirmed within the exclusivity range, disclosure should be made at the time of application to appear at the festival.
In addition to festival curation by our Executive Director, LitFest is piloting a Guest Curator program. Further details about this initiative will be available in the coming months.
Due to the high number of applications that we receive throughout the year, we will only respond to the writers selected to appear at the festival. However, if you have any questions about a pending application, please feel free to inquire via email at info@litfestalberta.org
