Naomi McIlwraith

Naomi McIlwraith: A writer whose relationships on this land are storied and authentic, Naomi was born and raised in Edmonton Alberta. A Métis writer with a Cree, Anishinaabe, Scottish, and English inheritance, she writes to honour her friends, family, ancestors, and loved ones. A teacher, poet, and peacemaker, Naomi works to build a more peaceful world and to nurture lasting and genuine relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. She is the author of a collection of poetry called kiyâm and several essays. Her children’s book, The Great Gathering Place, was published in June 2026.
